So I was having a conversation with one of our staff members about documentation and he had come over from a in-network practice that he was working at and he was talking about just how long it would take him to document and click through and the workflow and how, just how time consuming it was and how much easier it's been with the software that we use, which is PT everywhere.

And I know for us, we're very aware. Sort of time leaks within our staff and our own schedules. And it's just one of the worst things you can do is just waste time on things when you could be doing them more efficiently. One thing for us is we have to document. It's something we need to do and you need to do it as efficiently as you possibly can because that's where you're gonna save a lot of your time.

We were seeing our staff members save upwards of an hour a day as far as cleaning up his documentation, making it more efficient. What if you got an hour of your day back just from documentation? What if all of your staff did the same thing? Highly recommend you take a look at PT everywhere.

It's been a huge time saver for us and really has made a big difference in our efficiency of our practice. You can check 'em [email protected]. I think you're gonna really like what they have. So here's the question. How do physical therapists like us who don't wanna see 30 patients a day, who don't wanna work home health and have real student loans create a career and life for ourselves that we've always dreamed about?

This is the question, and this podcast is the answer. My name's Danny Matte, and welcome to the PT Entrepreneur Podcast.

What's going on guys? Doc, any here with the PT Entrepreneur Podcast and today it's gonna be a quick one. A super straightforward, simple little piece of advice that I hope helps you that. I thought about today and I wanted to share share with you guys. Cuz today's actually not that I'm trying to throw this out there for people to tell me Happy birthday, but it's my birthday today.

And today I had a lot more downtime because even though I'm, I am working like I'm recording this podcast, but that's because I did it to myself. I got behind and I haven't missed a podcast in, in. I don't know, four years, so I'm not gonna miss one now. But today's my birthday and I had some extra downtime cause I decided to just not really work.

And instead I actually did a bunch of yard work. So I've been laying down a bunch of bags of sod and just taking care of care of our yard for a few hours today. And what's nice about that is, it's repetitive manual labor, and I feel like I get I don't know, my, my thoughts settle the best when I do things like that, whether it's going for a walk, running or in this case just putting down a bunch of mulch.

A as I was doing that I thought I was thinking about our event that we just had we had our mastermind event in Charleston. And honestly it's the fav my favorite event that we've had. I feel like I got to really connect with a lot of people that I. I hadn't met before that are in our mastermind, which is weird for me because, we've grown so much that I'm not the person that is saying yes or no to whether somebody's the right fit for our community anymore.

I have I gave that up and we have people on our team that, that do that now, and they've done a phenomenal job of really maintaining our culture. And and as well as I got a chance to catch up with a lot of people that we've worked with for years that it's fun to always just. See where they're at and hear about their lives.

And personally, professionally, a lot of people, having kids or getting married or engaged, and it's it's just really cool to see and be a part of in a small way, all these people's lives. But the one thing that. Kept coming back to today was this idea of just being fair with people and doing the right thing.

And this is also partially based off some feedback that we got from one of our newer mastermind members that gave some feedback and essentially it said, Hey man, I'm a skeptical person and he hasn't been in our group for very long as far as our mastermind goes. And he goes, I was skeptical, going into the live event.

And everyone that was there was honestly really nice. They were all helpful. They were all nice people. Check, checking their egos at the door. Just going in and trying to Get as much out of the, those two days as they could, but also help as many other people get as much out of those two days as they could as well.

And I think that as I thought about that and I thought about how we start our business and what we do on a day in and day out basis, and both the businesses that we own, it's really not making decisions, not based off of what is best for your bank account, but what is best for that person that you're, you have an interaction with long term.

And not for the purpose of having a better business either. I think this is important to keep in mind, if you're like, okay, Danny says do the right thing for people, based on long-term relationships, then I'll have a better business, right? It's no, you should do the right things for people because it's the right fucking thing to do.

Like it's pretty much straightforward, you know what I'm saying? Like you can't cheat it. You can't just have these ulterior motives. You have to honestly do the right things for people because that's the way you wish that. Would be treated as well if you were in their place and, were a customer in their business or a client for, of a group like the one that, that we run with PT Biz.

And it's hard, man. It's super hard. And if you're in business, you know what I'm talking about. Like you would love nothing more than. To shortcut some things or not initiate maybe a refund that you know that you should or not necessarily pay for something that you know, that you should. Because money can be tight.

And and in a lot of cases we see this early on with clients that we've had, that we've sent off to other places, they weren't appropriate for us and we don't charge them an office visit. And, I just never thought that was fair and. Not, I'm like, oh, this is gonna be better for us in the long run.

And it turns out that if you do the right things for people, it is better for you in the long run. And the sort of central sort of theme that I kept coming back to was frankly just the idea of kindness. And it sounds, whatever. And it sound like a, I don't know, like not a very manly person I guess when I say this, but just the idea of just being kind to people is not that hard.

Whether you. Having a business interaction, whether you are working with somebody in a school environment, whether you are just helping somebody else out. Like it's not hard to be a kind person, a nice person to other people, but yet it actually is really hard to do that on an ongoing basis.

And, I think that we've had a decent amount of success. I turned 37 today. And Es especially in the last, whatever, eight years since we got outta the Army I'm well past whatever I thought my goals were gonna be, like my biggest goals, right? Like my a home run scenario. We're past that.

And I look back on, the things that, that we've done and I'm very grateful. The businesses we have the time independence, the financial independence, and the relationships with people that I've been able to develop along the way, I'm incredibly grateful for that. It's not something that I take for granted.

I think about it all the time, and I try to, what are the breadcrumbs? What are the things that, man, if I can, take something from that and share it. That would be really helpful to other people that are doing the same thing. This is the biggest thing that I think can make a massive difference, in the trajectory of your career, especially if you decide you want to take that into your own hands.

In some variation as far as business goes, and even if you don't like, it still applies. Doing the right things for people, doing what you say you're gonna do every single time. Something as simple as that. Just the right thing. Doing the right thing. What it does is it leads people to trust you more.

And when people trust you more, they're willing to give you more responsibil, more responsibility, more opportunity, and those bigger opportunities. If you do the same thing in those scenarios, you get more opportunities and it compounds and it grows, and. Then next thing you know you're in a completely different place.

So being kind to people and following through and doing what you say you're gonna do I think is just the biggest takeaway from my however many hours of spreading malts a day when I was thinking about this stuff. And, it's something that I think has been very helpful for us. I know it sounds simple.

And it's yeah, duh, whatever. Of course you should do that. But doing it, like knowing it and actually doing the right things for people every single day and doing what you say you're gonna do every single day is really actually incredibly hard to do because everybody gets tired, everybody gets stressed out, everybody loses their emotional control.

Everybody wants to do other things. But the rare few people that I know that do what they say they're gonna do and treat people the right way. I have so much respect and trust for them, and I want to work with them in any different capacity. I wanna spend time with them, whether it's in business, outside of business, like I just enjoy being around those people.

And if you can do the same thing, you're going to attract a lot of the people that you want to be around and the opportunities that you want as well.
